TitleAdvertising poster for the hire of passage, packet and pleasure boats on the Grand Junction Canal between London and Uxbridge
DescriptionThe poster provides a considerable amount of detail of the business run by Mr Henry Weeks, 67 Edgware Road, Paddington. He was offering a range of "safe and commodious Boats, with Awnings" for between four and 20 people and available to hire by the hour or by the day. He also had a larger boat to hire just by the day which could accommodate up to two hundred people.

Details of the passage boats are also given with one leaving Paddington at 8am and returning from Uxbridge at 4pm, each to be met by a connecting boat to Norwood. A second boat was to leave Uxbridge at 7am and return from Paddington at 5pm. A total of twenty eight places passed on route are listed. The range of fares varied from one shilling for up to six miles travelled, one shilling and six pence for between six and ten miles, two shillings for between ten and fifteen miles and two shillings and six pence for over fifteen miles. Each passenger could carry up to fourteen pounds in weight of luggage but the proprietor accepted no responsibility for it. Packages of up to twenty eight pounds could be transported if booked in advance.
