TitleMarylebone Town Hall, one of the most eminent of London's new buildings
DescriptionView of Marylebone Town Hall taken from the junction of Marylebone Road and Gloucester Place. The caption reads: "On July 8 1914, the Princess Royal laid the foundation stone of Marylebone Town Hall, and on March 27, 1920, Prince Albert declared the building open. The site is bounded north by the Marylebone Road and east by Gloucester Place, and the exterior is of Portland stone, the main frontage being adorned with a Corinthian colonnade. The architect was Sir Edwin Cooper. This structure superseded the old Town Hall opened in Marylebone Lane in 1825. Before that the old court house and watch-house, erected in 1729, was used".
