Title[View of Piccadilly Circus]
DescriptionView of Piccadilly Circus taken from the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue, looking west towards The Quadrant on Regent Street and the south side of Piccadilly. At the centre stands the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain and the statue of Eros. Behind the fountain, the premises of Swan and Edgar can be seen. The streets are busy with pedestrians, buses, cars and lorries. Buses carry advertisements for The Co-optimists and The Green Cord, which were produced in the West End in 1922. Other advertisements on display include J. Lyons & Co. and the Evening News. The caption on the reverse of the postcard reads: "Piccadilly Circus - The very heart of the West End of London. In the centre is the Fountain erected to the memory of Lord Shaftesbury. Many of the famous West End streets meet here, including Piccadilly, Regent Street, Haymarket, Coventry Street, and Shaftesbury Avenue".
