Description | Bird's eye view of the Marble Arch, looking west towards the Bayswater Road. On the right of the picture stands the Regal Cinema. Horse guards are shown processing under the Arch towards Hyde Park. The caption on the reverse of the card reads: 'A triumphal Arch, designed by Nash, more or less after the Arch of Constantine at Rome; it was erected in 1828 in front of the principal entrance to Buckingham Palace. Removed in 1850 to its present site, it formed an entrance to Hyde Park until 1908, when the Park railings were set back before the increasing volume of traffic here'.
