DescriptionPostcard of the north transept of Westminster Abbey, as seen from the south transept. The view looks towards the rose window and monuments of statesmen. The caption on the reverse of the card reads: 'North Transept. The first part of the Abbey Church seen by most visitors. Here are many memorials of famous statesmen and here several of them are buried. Fox and Henry Grattan the Irish Patriot; William Ewart Gladstone and his wife are both buried beneath the pavement of this transept, while Gladstone, Beaconsfield, Canning, Peel, Palmerston, Pitt, all have commemorative statues'.Postcard published by Raphael Tuck & Sons in the 'Photogravure' series (no. 2160).
