DescriptionShows a girls' swimming class in 1916. Burdett-Coutts Primary school has its origins in the Church of England School called St Stephen's, founded in 1847. The school in Rochester Street was founded in 1876, under the endowment of Revd Chauncery Hare Townshend and is known today simply as Burdett Coutts School, after Baroness Burdett-Coutts who was an early trustee and supporter. The baths were possibly those in Great Smith Street. This is a copy of the original taken by M D Trace, ref CW 091286 A9.
