DescriptionLegend reads: "Major Foubert's Riding School in Swallow Street. The Riding School was established in the reign of Charles II, the King giving £100 towards its establishment." Major Henry Foubert was the third generation of the Foubert family to run a riding school. This Hugeunot family fled to England from France in 1769, and is commemorated in the naming of Foubert Place in Soho. Unsigned watercolour dated 1801. (3) is a pen and ink drawing of the same view.
