Description | This photograph shows Tony Doyle in action at the Paddington Velodrome, flanked by two Westminster riders, Tim Woods and Chris Roberts. As well as winning the World Professional Pursuit Championship in 1980 and 1986, he also won four silver medals and one bronze. He is often identified as "Mr Six Day Rider" after winning an amazing 24 six-day races in an incredible career. In 1989 he was awarded an MBE for services to cycling. As the event director of the Tour of Britain, he is still heavily involved in the sport. |
