This picture was painted after the school had closed in 1787, after the death of its owner, Dr Fontaine. The School was on Marylebone High Street. A similar watercolour has been attributed to Michael Angelo Rooker (1746-1801) and there is another version in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge |
